Let's Converse
In the tapestry of my Creative Project in Upper Six, I intricately weaved the theme of 'My Identity.' It's a theme born from the realization that my teenage journey diverges from the mainstream currents of 'Pop' culture. My passions, preferences, and the very fabric of my existence stand apart, perhaps sculpted by the myriad influences of my numerous brothers. At the heart of this artistic exploration lies my lifelong love affair with sneakers, a passion ignited at the tender age of two. This project is more than mere paint on canvas; it's a fusion of my ardor for sneakers and my devotion to the art of printmaking, a process I've christened "Painting by Reduction." Here, I aim to distill the essence of my identity onto the canvas, inviting viewers to traverse the intricate labyrinth of my unique perspective.
Saudade
In my artistic journey featured in the class magazine "Saudade," I embarked on a creative odyssey that paid homage to cherished memories and familial treasures. Drawing inspiration from the hallowed grounds of an old family house, I meticulously crafted a series of printmaking pieces. These pieces echo the silent narratives of a bygone era, immortalizing the spectral beauty of "blue nun" glasses lovingly treasured by my grandfather. The fragrant embrace of frangipani flowers and the whimsical allure of the West Indian cherry tree bloom vibrantly amidst my prints, encapsulating not just the visual but also the emotional resonance of nostalgia. These works serve as a testament to my ability to transmute personal history and familial sentiment into art that transcends the confines of time, inviting viewers to explore the intricate tapestry of memory and emotion within my portfolio.
