SAWA Magazine
The theme of the SAWA magazine was ‘Saudade’. For me, Saudade encapsulated the cherished memories of my grandparents, particularly my beloved grandfather. Though he left us when I was young, I wanted to pay tribute to his life by recalling the moments I hold dearest. He played a significant role in building the house I frequented and adored gardening, filling the yard with an array of plants, including my personal favorites: Frangipani flowers and the West Indian Cherry tree. The cherry tree offered a delightful sweet treat after hours of sun-soaked play, while the flowers attracted vibrant orange monarch butterflies, etching these experiences in my heart. A timeless element that stood out was the exquisite Blue Nun glasses, which were displayed like prized possessions on an antique shelf. While I was never allowed to touch them, I later learned that they were his treasured, first-ever real crystal purchase, a source of immense pride for him.
My project, aptly named “Selwyn’s Treasures”, served as an homage to Selwyn Carter—my grandfather—and the cherished possessions he held dear. To bring this tribute to life, I embraced a beloved art form that I love: the printmaking technique. Channeling the nostalgia of his era, I opted for a black-and-white color scheme, harking back to the time when black-and-white TV sets graced their homes. Yet, to reflect the vibrancy of my youthful memories, I decided to introduce a pop of color that came from the orange monarch butterflies.
Incorporating illustrations of butterflies flitting around the frangipani flowers, I not only captured the essence of those cherished moments but also symbolized the blending of the past with the present in my project. By intertwining history and modernity, “Selwyn’s Treasures” embodies the enduring impact of memories that transcend time.

I had the privilege of designing the book cover for the "Compendium of Sanitation Systems and Technologies for the Wider Caribbean Region," a project that commenced on December 8th, 2021, and successfully concluded on May 18, 2022. This endeavor was a pivotal contribution to the field of sanitation, aiming to compile and disseminate crucial information on sanitation systems and technologies specific to the Caribbean region. My role in designing the book cover was not only an exercise in creativity but also a meaningful opportunity to visually represent the importance of sustainable sanitation practices within the context of this vital publication. It was an honor to be part of a project dedicated to enhancing sanitation infrastructure and promoting a cleaner, healthier environment in the Wider Caribbean Region.
Glory Church Inc. 35th Anniversary Celebration
In celebration of the 35th anniversary of Glory Church, I had the privilege of designing a banner and service program that encapsulated the essence of this momentous occasion. With a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for the church's history and values, I crafted a banner that radiated spiritual significance and an accompanying service program that guided attendees through the memorable event. It was a project filled with purpose, blending creativity and reverence to honor this important milestone in Glory Church's journey.
SOA Caribbean Art and Spoken Word Exhibitions
Crafting a poster for the SOA Caribbean Art and Spoken Word Exhibitions on ocean preservation was a deeply fulfilling experience. It allowed me to blend creativity with environmental advocacy, translating the urgency of ocean conservation into captivating visuals. Additionally, I created a three-fold brochure as part of the same assignment, serving as an informative gateway to raise awareness about this critical issue. These projects showcase my commitment to using art and design as powerful tools to communicate and inspire positive change in our world.
